Hollóházi Porcelain Gallery
Hollóházi porcelain has a history spanning nearly 250 years, beginning as a glassmaking workshop in 1777 in a small village in the Zemplén Mountains of Northern Hungary. Over generations, the manufactory has blended fine craftsmanship with artistic tradition.
Many Hollóházi pieces are handcrafted, featuring delicate motifs painted by skilled artisans. Some designs incorporate genuine 21-carat gilding, adding warmth and subtle luxury without being overdone. The collection's appeal lies in its variety, including traditional folk-inspired figurines and elaborately decorated dinner sets.
A highlight for us was discovering the Érosz Kollekció, a romantic-themed pattern inspired by graphics by László Jurcsák. The collection also showcases the distinctive artistic voice of Endre Szász, whose designs bring imagination and a touch of theatrical romance to porcelain. Hollóházi porcelain occasionally appears at the Nostalgia Crystal Shop inside the Grand Market Hall. Finding a piece there feels more like discovering a fragment of Hungarian fairy tale memory than simple shopping.
